New Specified Skilled Worker (Food Service Industry) Applications to be Suspended
2026/3/27
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Immigration Services Agency announced that they will temporarily suspend the acceptance of applications from April 13 onward for Specified Skilled Workers in the Food Service Industry, as the intake cap has been reached.

Since the maximum number of workers accepted in the Food Service Industry (53,000) has been reached, applications received on or after April 13, 2026, for new overseas recruits or for changes from other visa categories will, in principle, be denied.

However, applications for visa extensions by Specified Skilled Workers already employed in the Food Service Industry, as well as applications for the acceptance of Specified Skilled Workers already working in the Food Service Industry who are changing employers within the same industry, will continue to be processed as usual after April 13, 2026.
